support separate sets of snippets/shortcuts
Many folks want to share snippets or shortcuts with each other. Come up with a way to save a collection of snippets as a file to share with others, and have a way to limit which snippets are active for any given file.
Of course, this feature could also allow you to create and store collections of snippets for your own use.
39 votesI’ve edited the description to specify “snippet collections” as a feature you can use for yourself, not just for sharing purposes. Thanks for the feedback!

Automatic Play+Pause+Skipback
It could be useful to have a second kind of playback speed control, that works only with the pause and the rewind functions, instead of really slowing down the speed of playback. I'm thinking of something like this: I click play and, after 10 seconds of playback, InqScribe automatically pauses for 5 seconds, then it starts the playback again; then, after other 10 seconds it pauses again for 5 seconds, and so on, looping this process until I manually click stop or pause. (The values in seconds are given only for example: I imagine that they would be customizable through…

add a snippets counter, so you can see how many lines a characters has.
If you translate a script with different characters, you always want to know have many lines a certain actors has for planing your studio time. so it would be great if you could add a "snippets line counter" under the "Transcript" menu, and also be able to choose the line count of different snippets.
12 votesThanks for writing in the request! I see how it would be useful for studio time management. We’ll keep this idea under review. If there’s enough support for the feature we will consider adding it in a future update.

I just purchased the program and even though that I love the concept, I'm finding it pretty hard to scrub back and forward in an easy way. I
Easier scrubbing
4 votesAs Matt pointed out, scrubbing performance will vary based on a variety of factors. We are currently revamping InqScribe’s media engine, so hopefully you can expect some general performance improvements on the next release.

allow a shortcut that switches volume balance (one for right, one for left, one for middle)
This would help us tremendously in transcription of video where there are two audio channels and we want to catch what's happening in both

Include a confirmation dialog on "don't save" on close
Having just inadvertently closed Inqscribe thanks to Ctrl+W being right next to Ctrl+Q, I respectfully ask that you consider doing this:
Add a secondary confirmation dialog box to the "don't save" command, which might help prevent lost work.

Allow for "Save Current Frame as JPEG" shortcut
Allow users to assign a shortcut to the "Save Current Frame as JPEG" feature.

Allow us to disable built-in shortcuts
Specifically, I'd love it if Control-W shortcut to close the program had some way to back out of it. Because of other triggers I've set and am very accustomed to, it is way too easy to trigger this shortcut and tab to the "Don't Save" button and hit enter, which I did this morning, losing some unsaved work.
I'd just rather never have this particular function on shortcut.
If disabling is not an option, how about allowing the shortcut to remain in the system, but remap the trigger to a combination less likely to be inadvertently hit?

Stopwatch Snippet Variable
This idea comes from our user Ross:
"A snippet which would add a time stamp in seconds with a running clock restarted from 0 seconds from the previous marker. The first marker would start the clock running and the second entry would add the elapsed time, say 10.35 (seconds). The third entry would reset the clock to zero then add the elapsed time between the second and third entry, say 120.50 (seconds)."

Button to skip silence
have a button to skip over when no person is talking -- I have audio where there is no talking for 2-3 minutes at a time and to skip over when someone isn't talking and start playing again (at whatever play rate currently selected) before the button was pressed

Create a Snippet Variable that inserts the final timecode/file length
From the community: "Please include the time length of audio file as a Snippet Variable"
This would essentially be a variable that inserts the last timecode of the file. For example, the variable would insert "[00:59:56.10]" for a file that that is 59 minutes and 56 seconds long.
Let us know in the comments if there's another timecode format you'd like to see (ex: 59:56).
