Automatic Play+Pause+Skipback
It could be useful to have a second kind of playback speed control, that works only with the pause and the rewind functions, instead of really slowing down the speed of playback. I'm thinking of something like this: I click play and, after 10 seconds of playback, InqScribe automatically pauses for 5 seconds, then it starts the playback again; then, after other 10 seconds it pauses again for 5 seconds, and so on, looping this process until I manually click stop or pause. (The values in seconds are given only for example: I imagine that they would be customizable through two text fields). The automatic pauses give the user the time to finish transcribing what the speaker said during the playback. I think this function should be useful because it removes the need to manually pause and restart the playback each time the user can't stay with the typing at pace with the spoken words, and because often, using the traditional play rate control, the audio quality and words clarity decreases too much. The user should only try to find the two playback and pause time values that, in average, best match the speed of the speaker. One more thing: the one I explained is actually an uncomplete version of the function (just not to create confusion). The complete function I have in mind should have a skipback value too, and should behave this way: I click play, InqScribe plays for 10 seconds, then pauses for 5 seconds, then rewinds 2 seconds and finally starts the playback again, and the whole process repeats. The function could be activated and deactivated through a checkbox. Final note: this function is already built in some programs by Xemi Computers, like Claudio and Audio Notes Recorder, and, if I'm not wrong, it's called "Transcription playback mode". Interesting idea. We'd have to figure out how to integrate it with the main control array, since it's clearly a mode that you need to be able to turn on or off. We'll look into it.
