Include a confirmation dialog on "don't save" on close
Having just inadvertently closed Inqscribe thanks to Ctrl+W being right next to Ctrl+Q, I respectfully ask that you consider doing this:
Add a secondary confirmation dialog box to the "don't save" command, which might help prevent lost work.

Phone Support
I suggest you have this, as not all of us are savvy enough to follow general written instructions when a media source is not any of those listed. ave phone support. I just signed-up for a free trial, but now that I see only email-based support, I will be choosing a company with phone support..

Add a way to automatically go to the beginning of the line to add the time code
I already have my text transcribed and translated in Word (I need the special characters), and it's a pain to have to manually place the cursor at the beginning of each line to insert the timecode. It would also be great to have a space after the timecode:
eg: {01:00:25.22} Ed: Speaking of horses...
Right now it's: {01:00:25.22}Ed:Speaking of horses.4 votes -
Update window behavior to conform to OS X Lion applications
It appears that the latest version only allows window resize from the bottom right corner. Most other apps now allow resizing from any edge or corner.

Add a Google Search Function
From Danila: "Useful for looking up names and terms a transcriber is unfamiliar with."
3 votesWe’ll consider the feature for a future update. Make sure to cast your votes if you’re interested in this idea.

error box needs keyboard support and non cryptic alert messages (media not in expected folder error)
Blind users can't interact with media not found errors via the keyboard and these errors are in cryptic hexadecimal rather than English.

Allow Real-Time timecode input (e.g. Midi Time Code) in Offline Media mode
This would make InqScribe more useful for logging off a hardware player, but more importantly means it could be used for real-time logging during Production. An example would be when filming long documentary interviews or Reality TV, a Production Assistant could be logging events to timecode coming from the Camera. Afterwards, this data could be imported into a new Transcription document along with a video file, as a head-start for creating a full edit log or transcript. There's other live timecode loggers out there, but nothing that does transcription after the fact as well. There are several existing apps for…

BPM Finder
It would be great if the software could automatically find the BPM of the song or video clip being played as it saves opening external applications to do this simple task.

Implement keyboard shortcuts to export different types of files. (e.g: shortcut for TXT Export)
To export, you always have to go to the menu/submenu. It's be great to have a keyboard shortcut for every type of export to save time.
3 votesThanks for the suggestion! We’ll consider export shortcuts for a future InqScribe release.

Stay as fantastic as you are always!
This is the most exciting work-related software I've come across in this iconic year 2012!
But I don't know where to write with my trouble-shooting Q.
I love you guys, you're the best!

Manual starting timecode
Often times I get an interview with the SRC timecode displayed in the video. The file time code starts at 00:00:00:00 obviously. Maybe somehow make it where I can manually enter the time code in the video and then have a shortcut timecode from there, so I don't have to manually enter the timecode every so often.
I hope I'm explaining it correctly.

Fix review (Rewind) option
The funcionality of the Review button is not consequent/doesn't work properly: Clicking on it when playing the video, has no effect. Clicking on it when the video is pauzed brings you to the beginning of the video. It only works with the shortcut combination (it rewinds non stop the video until you clic the shortcut again or pauze). It should be more functional if you could rewind just 1, 2, 5 seconds, or even better, customize how much you want to rewind.

Solve these Final Cut Pro Markers export problems
You can't drag and drop the generated XMLs into FCP (it gives you an "unrecognized file" error). You have to import them one by one using the "Import XML" dialog, which takes a LOT of time. Also, every imported XML gives you an error log since it can't find the associated media file.
It's prone to errors when encountering weird ASCII characters, with no explanation whatsoever that this is the case. I had to work with your support guys to figure this out.
It generates an empty sequence with the markers at sequence level. It would be great to also…

"omit frames" behavior
Hi, I remember that old versions behavior was to just hide the frames from the transcript, but you could still enter the frames in the offset field for accuracy. Could there be a way to get that behavior back?

Add an auto-volume adjust
I think there should be a feature to automate volume adjustment. So either all songs can play at the same volume or one can program a playlist to play a particular song louder.

Ability to just export a video file with subtitles "Burned in"
Allow to export a new video file that has subtitles "burned in". The subtitles actually part of the video so they can be seen in new QT, or anything for that matter. Doesn't need a lot of options, just for simple subtitling without jumping to other programs.

Do not resize media window when importing a new video file
"It would be nice to be able to import and not change my preferred sizing.
It would save a lot of resizing every time I import a file. I tend to log a lot of footage where I am handling over 100 files at a time and have to resize every one so I can access other things on my desktop at the same time." -Adrienne3 votes -

Allow switching to German style quotation marks ( „“ and ‚‘ )
In our projects, we transcribe German oral history interviews. Now, we have two ways to place German quotation marks ( „“ and ‚‘ ): Either by setting two snippets for each the left and right quotation mark or by placing the English quotation marks first and then replacing them by the "find-and-replace"-function.
Both are not quite optimal solutions, so maybe there is a way to add feature which would allow to switch the quotation mark format?
This would be als useful for other languages as Bulgarian, Czech, Danish, Estonian, Georgian, Icelandic, Latvian, Lithuanian, Russian, Serbo-Croatian, Slovak, Slovene and Ukrainian use…
