Perhaps take a look at descript.com.
They offer a very nice editor online and offline and it supports multi-track audio/video.
The editor has many features that Inqscribe doesn't support yet.
It might be nice to see an integration from InqScribe to Descript that would let me use both tools with the same cloud-database. There are things I like about inqscribe that Descript doesn't have (such as snippets) but Descript has wave form for audio and lets you click on any word to go right to the video. Every word gets automatically linked to the time codes and they offer a fully HIPAA compliant transcription tool so you don't have to type the entire document yourself. Would be cool if Inqscribe could link to that same engine to provide the initial transcript.

Thanks for the suggestion Alan. Although you can save a timecoded video as a series of JPEGs (by selecting “File > Save Time Series As JPEGs”), you cannot currently display your transcript as subtitles to these images. This is great idea, so we’ll consider adding it in a future InqScribe update.

RTF might be nice and I see people mentioning DEVONthink. DEVONthink supports Back Links so you can click on them to go directly to the video locations, which is great.

However, perhaps markdown format would be more useful than RTF for everybody?

Including the ability for the Inqscribe file format to be in clear text?

Markdown allows formatting and is useful in DEVONthink as well as many other tools and since it saves in clear text, it might be more accessible for diverse applications.

Thanks for writing in the request! It’s great to hear users articulating their suggestions in the comments. We will keep this under consideration for a future InqScribe update.

Thanks for the suggestion Andrew. I see how unpinning the video window would be really useful for presentation scenarios. We will consider this for a future update of InqScribe.

Your second suggestion about embedding subtitles within the playback window is actually covered in the following suggestion: http://support.inqscribe.com/forums/4206-general-feedback-for-inqscribe/suggestions/3057491-preview-subtitled-movies

Feel free to place your votes there! I’ve edited this part out of the description to keep these ideas separate.
