Two things would make this great for scripting audio description (for visually impaired audiences):
1. A zoomed-in waveform (e.g. showing 3 or 4 seconds either side of the current timecode) so I can precision-align the timecode with the start or end of spoken dialogue.
2. A 'jump x frames forward' and 'jump x frames backward' hotkey so that I can put a specified gap between the end of the spoken dialogue and the start of my description text.I'm happy to be contacted if you want to develop this to be more useful for audio describers. (I know some people already use it for AD.)

One of our users wrote in to add onto this idea: When the media file is playing and reaches a timecode already entered into the transcript, that timecode should give a visual cue to help you assess the timing of that timecode. This visual cue could be simply highlighting the currently "active" timecode.

YES! Please!! This would be extremely helpful. It would allow users to know when audio is about to start/stop.
This suggesting is very old - I hope by now it's being relooked at and hopefully added!(I agree, a zoom in feature would be good - it's pointless if it's so small that you're not able to stop the playback just prior to seeing the audio start + yes, it allows for one to skip past long silent moments)

As a long time inqscribe user, I am also very interested in seeing a wave form that you could use to position the video for exact insertion of a timecode into the transcript. Academics who use inqscribe for interaction analysis need this. There are several tools out their that have waveform features (F4/F5 being one of them). None have the rock-solid operability of inqscribe, but for me, its difficult to do my work in this software without a quicker/more precise way to insert a timecode with .1 sec accuracy.

That would very nice to show the waveform because I could fast forward during long periods of silence or background noise to the start of the conversation

It would also be nice if you could click on the waveform and jump the the specific time (like you can currently with timecodes, etc).
If there were settings available to change the length of time displayed (eg 10 sec, 30 sec, 1 min, etc.) and zoom level it would be even more useful to me.
