  1. Do not resize media window when importing a new video file

"It would be nice to be able to import and not change my preferred sizing.
It would save a lot of resizing every time I import a file. I tend to log a lot of footage where I am handling over 100 files at a time and have to resize every one so I can access other things on my desktop at the same time." -Adrienne

From Danila: "Useful for looking up names and terms a transcriber is unfamiliar with."

  4. Batch update for file locations

Different users have the same file stored in different locations. Currently, we have to relocate each file one by one as we re-open transcripts. It would be so much easier to have a batch update function, or a default directory option that can be updated and affect all transcripts.

  5. add quick look functionality to inqscribe files

I'd like to be able to use the Quick Look feature of osx to see at least the text contents of inqscribe files at a glance in the finder.

  6. Add jog & shuttle support for video manipulation

So that I can use a jog wheel to fast forward and rewind in the same way I am able to do with Quicktime.

  7. Line by Line language replace

Add the feature that the much more expensive program Final Sub has. The ability to import a text document in a new language, and have it replace, line by line the previous language in the same timecode positions. Right now I have to copy and paste in the new language line by line. Very time consuming.

  8. multiple tiers

Enable multiple transcription tiers relating to the same time code so that a transcription tier can be linked to a translation or annotation tier. This would make the software very attractive to those doing documentary linguistics.

Thanks for the suggestion. The idea of a tiered or tabbed interface is very much on our radar. It would be a great way to organize notes, transcriptions, and translations. We will definitely consider it for a future version of InqScribe.

    Hi Phillip,

Thanks for writing in the request. We have a previous suggestion for background support that’s already accumulated some votes. You’re welcome to add your vote for the idea below:
    http://support.inqscribe.com/forums/4206-general-feedback-for-inqscribe/suggestions/33720-let-me-use-inqscribe-to-control-playback-in-the-ba

Regarding your second request, we actually don’t have a mobile app. Are you able to run InqScribe on your mobile device? If so, what device are you using? We haven’t done any testing on mobile and would be interested in learning more if you managed to get InqScribe running.

    Thanks,
    Alex Underwood

  10. Open Language localization

Please give us the ability to translate the software. It can only benefit you.

  11. auto scroll in program (not just export)

I work in concert lighting and just started using Inqscribe to track how we cue our songs. I'll have music with timecode embedded, play it back, and then insert timecode stamps at the different parts of the song where I need something to happen (verse 1, guitar player xright, etc...). It would be really useful to have inqscribe auto scroll your transcript section on the right so that as a song is playing, I can look over and see my notes for that particular part of a song, and not have to scroll to the particular part of the page…

  12. make Inqscribe available in other languages.

Wouldn't it make sense to have Inqscribe available in languages other than english? (I mean the menu items and commands).

  13. add additional media playback controls to select discrete audio channels

Some media files have interleaved or multiple audio channels embedded in a single Audio Track. The specific example I'm thinking of is a Sony XDCAM Proxy file, that has 8 channels of audio embedded, but they get mixed down to stereo for playback. It would be great if we could turn each of those channels on/off in the media playback controls

  15. "match settings" of video

add option for a new inqsribe doc to "match settings" of video that is inserted for transcribing (vs manually changing everything / kinda like dragging something into a new fcp sequence)

  16. word-by-word timecoding with script building

as a doc filmmaker, building a script could be hugely aided by inqscribe if it:
    a) employed speech recognition to match words to timecode after transcription.
    b) allowed editing of the timecode stamped words into new scripts
    c) allowed playing such scripts from the original source material (assembly edit)
    d) provided export of assembly edit to editing software for finessing
    e) highlighted text that'd been used in a script so that after editing one could see what's been used and not used.

I realize this is a huge task, but for years I've thought that a timecoded word editor would…

  17. Geolocate your audio

How about being able to set a geo-location using Google Earth/Maps for a map reference to your audio clips - working in a similar way to the Timecode feature, but plotting map references. You could maybe have access to a window with google maps/earth in the interface, say below where the player is now. Finding a way to link map coordinates with the text/audio would be great.

  18. improve foreign language input

I use Korean and the cursor is located between lines. Also, dragging (for copy, delete, paste, etc.) does not work properly. Please improve basic input/edit function for foreign languages. Thanks

  20. Standard Screenplay Format Exporting

InqScribe is great for direct transcription, however, as Adobe PP editors we could really use a workaround that would allow us to export a standardized screenplay format http://www.storysense.com/format/margins.htm that we could import into our metadata workflow/s.

I have found that Adobe "Story" is a critical step in the workflow, and while InqScribe's ability to export text (.txt) without timecode is a nearly perfect solution for bulk dialog text, the problem is that we need the speaker field to be separated out in the export, so Story would be able to delineate CHARACTER/speakers from dialog text.

    Note: the format described above…
