  1. Support using the play/pause, previous/next buttons on the Mac keyboard

Other media applications will use the built-in plause/pause and previous/next buttons that normally operate iTunes, but only when that application is in use. This would provide convenient one-key shortcuts for play/pause and skipback/forward.

Thanks for the suggestion Josh! We’re working now on some big changes to InqScribe, so we’ll keep your feedback in mind. We would like to add in media key support for Mac and PC.

  2. Make transcript change color every x seconds from previous timecode

Sometimes transcribers are requested to enter timecodes every, say, 20 seconds. InqScribe doesn't automatically insert timecodes in order to avoid situations where the timecodes gets inserted in a bad spot, like t[00:00:20.00]his.

A workaround is to have the transcript, or a part of the transcript change color to indicate the 20 second mark. Ideally, the would be a color animation (for example, gradually turning from green to yellow to red) so that you could plan your line break.

  3. Create a Snippet Variable that inserts the final timecode/file length

From the community: "Please include the time length of audio file as a Snippet Variable"

This would essentially be a variable that inserts the last timecode of the file. For example, the variable would insert "[00:59:56.10]" for a file that that is 59 minutes and 56 seconds long.

Let us know in the comments if there's another timecode format you'd like to see (ex: 59:56).

  4. TTML import

Although InqScribe has the ability to output a TTML file via the InqScribe Labs site (https://labs.inqscribe.com/exporter/ttml/), there is currently no way to import a TTML file into InqScribe.

  5. Add support for find and replace regex patterns

    Per user request:
We do a lot of edits where the speaker has been misidentified. The usual format is to have the speaker ID at the start of the line followed by a colon. Right now we select the speaker with a double click and then hit a snippet key. It would be nice to be able to assign a speaker to the current line (or even multiple lines) without having to do the select. Allowing find/replace with a regex pattern, which could then to be assignable as a hotkey, would be perfect.
