Thanks for writing in your request. We’ll consider adding a shortcut that acts on a customizable timer as you described.
In the meantime, you might be interested in a Skipback Toggle combination. In this setup, you can use one shortcut key to play, pause, and skipback in your media file. Read more about this option in our User Guide: http://docs.inqscribe.com/2.2/keyboardshortcuts.html#actions

An error occurred while saving the comment Stacy commentedI agree that this shouldn't be always-on. Many of the vocalizations I transcribe are not bonafide words from the dictionary, so red blotches could really get annoying. I find that a once-through after the transcript is complete is good enough for me (my current work practice is to copy the entire transcript into Pages.app, spot typos underlined in red & fix them, then copy and paste to replace the original text in Inqscribe.app).

I like to use the occasional italicized word to indicate emphasis of the speaker when transcribing interviews. I prefer to use a CTRL+i to initiate/end an italic string because I don't want my hands to leave the keyboard. A suggestion for Pip: when I want to make portions of the text stand out, I often use **marks like this**.
