How do I share my InqScribe transcript?

Transcribing is often a collaborative process, which is why we've tried to make sharing InqScribe projects as easy as possible. This article will detail how to share your .inqscr transcript, which includes your clickable timecodes. Note that you can always share the text of your transcript by simply copying and pasting its contents, or by exporting into a plain text .txt file.

Sending your transcript file to a colleague is straightforward. The files are small and can easily be sent as an email attachment, placed on a server, etc.

One of the reasons InqScribe transcript files are so small is that InqScribe does not save your media in the transcript file. You will have to share the media file separately.

InqScribe saves the relative file path of the media file. In other words, when you open a .inqscr transcript, InqScribe will look for the media file in the same location it was last saved. If the receiving user has the same file path as the giving user, the media will automatically load into InqScribe. If InqScribe can't find the media file, the user will simply be prompted to manually locate the file. One way to ease media sharing is to send a media URL (more on this option here).

The recipient will also need to install InqScribe to view your .inqscr transcript. Not to worry though, we offer InqScribe as a free download on our website.

Note that InqScribe will run by default in an unlicensed mode, which restricts saving and exporting (read more about these limitations here). If the recipient would like to keep any changes to the transcript or export into another format, he/she can either purchase InqScribe or request a free 14-day trial.
